Factory Wheel Outlet was founded in 1998 by the father-and-son team of Ernie and Jim Gilbert.

Because most wheel replacement costs are billed to insurance companies, dealers have no incentive to offer wholesale prices to an audience with no other options. As a result, there was no relief for consumers seeking to repair, refinish, reface, or replace damaged wheels without involving insurance companies.
